Lighting Designer Kathy Perkins Leads Hands-on Masterclass for Theatre Students

Over the course of two masterclass sessions in April, legendary lighting designer Kathy Perkins worked with students in creating lighting designs for the play “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell. Students were divided into groups to create designs for this show based on prompts by Perkins. Students investigated the history of light sources, environmental concerns and storytelling with guidance from the guest lighting designer. This student work cumulated in-class presentations for Perkins during the last masterclass session.

The lighting design masterclass with Kathy Perkins was made possible for the Borden Fund.
