New Work by Burbridge ’20 Featured in 2021 HB Playwrights Reading Series

“Date with the Devil,” a new work by Carmen Burbridge ’20 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting), will be featured in the 2021 HB Playwrights Reading Series with public showings this June. Burbridge’s project was one of six selected for the 2021 HB Rehearsal Space Residency. Her project’s public showing begins at 7 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 25 via Zoom.

“Date with the Devil” is the story of two women striving to make a life together, while the world closes in on them. Both sex workers, they go on the run after killing a pimp. In the ensuing action, the women attempt to rise above their circumstances instead of succumbing to outside factors trying to taint their love.

“I am so excited to see Carmen working with my NY ‘studio’ alma mater. Go Hornets!,” said Visiting Associate Professor of Theatre Martha Wollner, M.A.
