New Patio Expands Outdoor Seating

Adirondack chairs, tables, and future fire pit make for a great place to study and gather

Shenandoah has increased its outdoor seating and gathering spaces with the addition of a new patio outside the Brandt Student Center.

The 3,000-square-foot area sits between the student center and Shingleton Hall and consists of paving

stones and landscaping featuring native plants. Adirondack chairs and a fire pit (coming soon!) adorn the space.

This area is so important to the welcoming feel of the student center and has been underutilized, in part, because of the aging electrical transformer that has been there since Shingleton was built in the 1960s.  This summer’s infrastructure work presented the perfect opportunity to remove this transformer and transform this unused space into a gathering area for our campus community.”
