Bowden Performs Fung’s Trumpet Concerto with CYSO

Assistant Professor of Trumpet Mary Elizabeth Bowden, M.A., presented the Chicago premiere of Vivian Fung’s Concerto for Trumpet on Sunday, Nov. 14, during a fall concert with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO). Bowden is a CYSO alumna and was also presented with the CYSO 2021 Alumni Award during the concert.

Bowden will perform the trumpet concerto with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra (SCSO) on Saturday, April 8. Fung’s trumpet concerto was co-commissioned by the SCSO and its world premiere took place in January 2020. It is presented as part of a special concert celebrating contemporary works by female composers.
