Griggs ’19 Named Fulbright Scholar

Annie Griggs ’19 (Bachelor of Music in Music Education) was named a Fulbright Scholar for the 2022/23 academic year after applying through the English Teaching Assistant program. She applied for a grant to teach and complete supplementary studies on comparative education policy reform in North Macedonia. If accepted, the scholarship allows her to live in North Macedonia and pursue that work over the course of a 9-month grant period.

“I’m grateful to the community at Shenandoah for their ongoing support in my professional endeavors,” said Griggs. “My experiences there were so critical in building foundational knowledge and skills related to both artistry and scholarship! I am certain that it is because of the strong education and mentorship I gained at Shenandoah that I feel so well equipped to serve the world’s communities.”

She applied for the program through James Madison University, where she completed her graduate work.
