Ilyes ’24 and Zhao ’22 Perform National Anthems at Japan-Virginia Night in D.C.

Violinists Emily Ilyes ’24 (Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance) and Rachel Zhao ’22 (Artist Diploma) were invited to perform the United States and Japanese anthems at the Japan-Virginia Night on Wednesday, June 15, at Japanese Ambassador Koji Tomita’s residence in Washington, D.C. Prominent guests at the event included four Virginia secretaries (Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Matthew Lohr, Secretary of Commerce and Trade Caren Merrick, Secretary of Transportation W. Sheppard Miller III and Secretary of Finance Stephen Emery Cummings) and the Mayor of the City of Richmond (Virginia) Levar M. Stoney.
