Shenandoah Recognized As A Great College To Work For

Positive employee feedback earns SU the distinction for the 2nd straight year

Shenandoah University is one of 68 institutions nationwide to be recognized as a 2022 Great College to Work For, and one of 46 four-year colleges and universities across the country to earn the distinction. It’s the second year in a row that Shenandoah has earned the honor.

The Great Colleges to Work For program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country and honors institutions that receive top marks from employees for specific workplace practices and policies.

This year, 212 institutions participated in the Great Colleges to Work For program, including 130 four-year institutions and 82 two-year colleges. Shenandoah is one of only two four-year universities in Virginia to make the list.

Shenandoah University’s strength is its people. We search the country, at times the world, to hire faculty and staff members who are inspiring, bold and relevant. They pour their talents and compassion into their work and into their relationships with students, co-workers and the community,” said Shenandoah University President Tracy Fitzsimmons, Ph.D. “SU’s unparalleled strength in enrollment, career placement and student success is due to the amazing individuals who work across our three locations.”

Shenandoah University was recognized in three areas in 2022:

  • Confidence in Senior Leadership
  • Faculty Experience
  • Shared Governance

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.

Institutions that were recognized as a Great College to Work For in 2022 will be listed in a special insert of the Sept. 16 edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education.
