Marchment and Students Collaborate in World Opera Day Production with OperaVision

Director of Opera and Associate Professor Ella Marchment, B.M., and two Ukrainian students studying at Shenandoah University are partnering with OperaVision to present an international online co-production of Ukrainian composer Borys Lyatoshynsky’s “Golden Crown” this month. It will be released on Oct. 25, in celebration of World Opera Day and presented in solidarity with the country and people of Ukraine. It is a unique collaboration between seven cities: Helsinki, Lviv, London, Rome, San Francisco, Warsaw and Washington, D.C. The production is narrated by Illia Kozlov ’26 (Bachelor of Science in International Studies) and Iryna Horodnycha ’26 (Bachelor of Business Administration), with special support from mentor Marina Duane. Marchment initiated and directed this production. Visit www.giornaledellamusica.it to learn more (in Italian, English translation available). Shenandoah University’s Office of Marketing & Communications supported the project with filming and editing on campus.
