Schwarz Performs Concertos Throughout Country

Associate Professor of Cello Julian Schwarz, M.M., has performed a number of concertos with orchestras throughout the country this fall.

He performed Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano in C Major, op. 56,” commonly known as the “Triple Concerto,” with violinist Eric Silberger, pianist Marina Radiushina, conductor Alberto Bade and the Miami Chamber Orchestra on Sept. 9. The performance was presented as part of the Miami Music Festival From Around the World at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center of Florida International University.

Schwarz performed Edward Elgar’s “Cello Concerto in E Minor, op. 85,” on Sept. 17, with the Paducah Symphony under conductor Raffaele Ponti as part of the orchestra’s 2022/23 season opening night at the Carson Center in Paducah, Kentucky.

He also performed Elgar’s cello concerto on Oct. 2, and Oct. 3, with the Charleston Symphony under conductor Gerard Schwarz as part of its 2022/23 season opening night at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, South Carolina.

Schwarz performed Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, op. 107” on Oct. 29, with the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas under conductor Paul Haas at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He performed Lowell Liebermann’s “Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, op. 132” on Nov. 4, and Nov. 5, with the Annapolis Symphony under conductor Jose-Luis Novo at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, Maryland. He also recorded this concerto for future release by Naxos.

Schwarz performed Joseph Haydn’s “Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Hob. VIIb/1” on Nov. 11, and Nov. 12, with the Winston-Salem Symphony under conductor Vladimir Kulenovic at the Stevens Center at University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
