Baldwin ’22 Makes Opera Stage Debut with Lamplighters Music Theatre in California

Tenor, actor and advocate Julian Baldwin ’22 (Bachelor of Music in Performance) made their opera stage debut this month with Lamplighters Music Theatre in San Francisco, California. They are double-cast as Niccolù (the tenor lead) in “Il Ducato / The New Mikado,” a reimagined Italian-set version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado.” The story is a classic Gilbert and Sullivan topsy-turvy romantic comedy featuring a cast of incredibly talented singers, a stunning orchestra and world-class production values.

“The advice and teachings that the faculty at SU provided me during my four years there allowed me to mentally prepare for the arts as a career as well as an art form,” said Baldwin. “With that mindset, I’m very fortunate and grateful to be making my debut on the West Coast with this incredibly warm and welcoming company.”
