Shenandoah Acting Grad Co-Stars In Film With Matt Damon

Scout Backus ’17 Appears in “The Instigators”

Shenandoah University graduate Scout Backus ’17 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting/Shenandoah Conservatory) appears in the Apple TV+ movie, “The Instigators,” starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. 

Backus plays the role of “Colani” in the Doug Liman-directed heist comedy, which debuted on Apple’s streaming service on Aug. 9. 

Backus comes to the role after having appeared in an episode of “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” and being part of both the Broadway production and the national tour of the Broadway production of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Backus performed one of the lead roles, Scout Finch, in the national tour
