All SU locations will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28. Classes scheduled to begin before that time will be held virtually. Child Care Center opens at 9 a.m. Faculty/staff are permitted to bring their children to work if necessary. Supervisors/faculty should provide flexibility for those who may have difficulty getting to work/class.

Commencement FAQs

Commencement Ceremony

  • Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. inside the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center. Doors open at 8:00 a.m.
  • The ceremony lasts about 2+ hours, depending on how many students walk.
  • Guests older than 24 months are required to have a ticket; we have a set number of chairs as per the Fire Marshal.
  • We do not issue special ADA tickets. Have your guests let our staff know and they will be directed to the ADA seating area.

School Specific Ceremonies

  • School Specific Ceremonies (hooding/pinning) are held on Friday, May 8, 2026. Please reach out to your school directly for those details.

Tickets

  • The number of tickets per student is based on the number of students who RSVP for the University-wide ceremony on May 9th.
  • The ticketing system will open around mid-March once the registrar’s office has processed the graduation applications.
  • Tickets are free; we do not sell them.
  • You will receive an email from commencement@su.edu with instructions on how to RSVP for the ceremony and claim your guest tickets.
