For over 150 years, Shenandoah University has been a cornerstone of higher education in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Throughout that century and a half, Shenandoah has remained committed to providing innovative, high-quality, student-focused education with the community at the heart of everything it does.
The Shenandoah University Parents Council serves as a bridge between families and the university. Through philanthropic support, volunteer leadership, and active engagement, the Parents Council helps sustain the traditions, programs, and student-centered opportunities that make a Shenandoah education extraordinary.
Why do families join the Parents Council?
- See the direct impact of your gift
- Strengthen the SU community through your generosity, engagement, and service
- Connect with fellow parents through regional and on-grounds opportunities
- Engage with Shenandoah’s top administrators to gain insight into the university’s priorities, strategic direction, and operations

Ways to be involved

- Support Shenandoah with a minimum annual gift of $1,000 or more to the Parents Fund
- Attend two council meetings on campus each year: one during Family Weekend and one in the spring, generally in April
- Host or attend regional events designed to engage other parents and families
- Serve as ambassadors, fostering relationships with fellow parents to broaden their knowledge of the university and encourage support
- Share valuable insight with university leaders on the undergraduate student experience
- Leverage corporate relationships to create career opportunities for SU students
- Consider making a larger gift that reflects your philanthropic capacity and passion, amplifying your impact on university priorities
