Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) – Shenandoah University. Doctoral capstone project: Bridging the Gap in Perinatal Care: A Model for Occupational Therapy in Midwifery Care, focused on expanding occupational therapy’s role within interdisciplinary maternal healthcare.

Professional Highlights:
Dr. Woods Hochkammer is an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator (DCC) in Shenandoah University’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program. In this role, she teaches across the curriculum, including courses in group dynamics, adult occupational performance, traditional and emerging practice areas, communication and documentation, experiential learning, and all phases of the doctoral capstone sequence.
She is known for her work in curriculum innovation and experiential learning, including developing sustainable partnerships with community organizations such as Winchester Rescue Mission, Westminster Canterbury, and Valley Health. Her approach to doctoral capstone emphasizes backward design, guiding students to identify meaningful outcomes and professional goals first and then intentionally design projects that align with those goals while meeting academic and site expectations.
In addition to her academic role, Dr. Woods Hochkammer is the founder and CEO of Maternal Milestones, a private occupational therapy practice focused on perinatal and pelvic health. Clinically, she continues to work across acute care, subacute rehabilitation, and outpatient settings, working with pediatric and adult populations.
Prersonal Highlights:
Dr. Woods Hochkammer resides in Virginia with her husband, two sons, and two dogs. In her free time, she volunteers as the secretary and chair of the Executive Committee for the Yellow School House, a nonprofit in Winchester, VA, focused on supporting families and early childhood development.
Her hobbies encompass weightlifting, winter and water sports, baking sourdough bread, and reading.
