Professional Bio
Naomi Davis is a board-certified music therapist, performer and instructor. She received her bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Colorado State University a Master of Arts in music therapy from The University of Iowa, and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Music Therapy from The University of Iowa.
As a music therapist, Davis works in community, telehealth and school-based settings with children of all ages. She practices from a play-based, Community Music Therapy perspective and believes that the role of the therapist is to build relationships with therapy participants through collaboration in order to address areas of growth and identity that are meaningful to therapy participants. Davis’s work is informed by ecological theories and social justice movements such as Community Music Therapy, disability justice and critical race theory.
As an instructor, Davis fosters a student-centered learning environment that strives to provide opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning, work collaboratively and develop their own musical identities. She provides individual and group lessons for piano, guitar and songwriting.
