B.A., Psychology and German, Beloit College; M.A., Applied Social Psychology, Loyola University Chicago; Ph.D., Social Psychology, Loyola University Chicago.

Fields of Expertise:

Ageism: what it is, how it’s measured, and how we can reduce it.
Social media: how it affects behavior, personality, relationships, teaching, and vice versa for all the above.
Trying new things in the classroom, although usually not expertly.

Professional Highlights:

Global Citizenship Project participant to Serbia (2012) and leader to Fiji (2015) and the Bahamas (2022). Global Experiential Learning trip leader to Fiji (2016), Germany (2018), and Fiji again (2024). “Biggest Faculty Athletic Supporter” 2014-15. Visiting Scholar at Obama Institute for Transnational American Studies in Mainz, Germany, 2018. SU Board of Trustees Resolution of Appreciation for Contributions to Cross-Cultural Understanding, 2018. VIVA Open Adopt Grant awardee for Social Psychology, 2025. Partnering with Seniors First (the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging), 2011-present.

Personal Highlights:

Raising a family in Winchester with wife Cortney, daughter Colette, and son Sam. Enjoy playing disc golf & poker; working out; listening to podcasts, Dave Matthews Band, and 90s hip-hop; cheering for the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, FC St. Pauli, and Tottenham Hotspur.
