BSN-Level TEAS EXAM — A Test of Essential Academic Skills
The Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing is committed to facilitating students’ success. It is for this reason that we use the BSN-Level TEAS (Test of Essential SkillsTM) exam as one of the ways to evaluate students’ academic readiness for admission to the nursing program. Please pay close attention to the information written below.
The BSN-Level TEAS exam consists of four content areas:
Reading
Reading covers paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension and inferences/conclusions.
Math
Math subtest covers whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages and ratio/proportion.
Science
Science covers science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science.
English and Language Usage
English and Language Usage subtest measures knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words and spelling.
All subtests contain multiple-choice items with one correct answer. The test is timed and will last approximately 3 and 1⁄2 hours.
The TEAS exam is produced by Assessment Technologies Incorporated (ATI), a testing company that offers standardized entrance testing and comprehensive examinations for schools of nursing in the United States. The ATI-TEAS is administered online, and results are available immediately at the conclusion of the test. Additional TEAS exam sites are available throughout the United States. Studying for the Exam
Applicants are encouraged to prepare for the exam by using the ATI -TEAS Study Manual (and practice tests).
