An entry-level pathway that offers a mix of online and in-person engagement with “on-demand” learning for students. This hybrid pathway will allow students to engage in much of the didactic curriculum asynchronously (on their own time), with some synchronous (live) online sessions and two on-campus visits per semester. This pathway will maintain the same high educational standards as the on-campus pathway to allow all students to achieve identical educational outcomes with added flexibility in how they interact with the curriculum, faculty, and their peers.

All students entering the online hybrid pathway will join their on-campus classmates for a week-long orientation in Winchester, VA prior to the start of classes. Two immersive visits will occur during each semester for 3-5 days depending on the academic year. All on-campus activities will take place at the Health Professions Building in Winchester, VA.
Yes, all students admitted to the traditional program, regardless of pathway, are eligible for scholarships.
Yes, however, the amount granted to online students is currently half of the on campus award.
Courses will be delivered primarily asynchronously through our learning management system. Some synchronous activities may be required for specific course activities and will be outlined at the beginning of each semester.
No, the curriculum of the online hybrid pathway mirrors that of the on campus experience. Both pathways utilize 148 credit hours of didactic, laboratory and experiential education.

IPPE rotations will occur in the summers between didactic years as well as during the didactic semesters. APPE rotations will comprise the entirety of the 4th professional year, which includes the summer, fall and spring semesters.
Students will have the opportunity to identify rotation sites near their home location. These sites will have to apply to be a rotation site and will follow the same quality assurance requirements as any other site. All rotations not able to be set up near a student’s home location will be completed in what is considered our on-campus region. This region is defined as a 75-mile radius of the Health Professions Building located on the Winchester campus. For APPE rotations, there will also be an opportunity to apply for specialty application-based rotations such as: the FDA, the CDC, Indian Health Service, Clinical Tracks with Johns Hopkins, NIH, research, academia and industry.
*Please note: students cannot complete rotations with an organization that they are employed by. Also, limits may be in place for rotations where a potential conflict of interest applies, such as a site where a family member is employed.
No, all students enrolled in Shenandoah University’s School of Pharmacy participate in the iMLearning program that furnishes a MacBook Pro, iPad, and Apple pencil.
Yes, all students enrolled at the School of Pharmacy are eligible to enroll in the three dual degree programs offered – Masters of Business of Administration, Masters of Public Health, and Masters of Pharmcogenomics and Personalized Medicine.

Our 17 professional and fraternal organizations will remain as single chapters for the School of Pharmacy (SOP), and leadership opportunities for hybrid pathway students will be built into the organizational structures, including class officers and student representation on the SOP’s standing committees. Video conferencing of seminars and professional organizations’ meetings will assist in the integration and professional development of all students. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in regional and national conferences for pharmacy organizations and the School has funding to support student travel to professional meetings.
