Today is devoted to costume and makeup test photos, and location shooting starts at midday tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 26) on the main campus of Shenandoah University with our Santa, Barry Bostwick!

“Santa Girl,” directed by Blayne Weaver, and starring Barry Bostwick, “Wizards of Waverly Place” alumna Jennifer Stone and “Ned’s Declassified,” veteran Devon Werkheiser, is filming on location in Winchester, Virginia. in October and November 2017. Shenandoah University students are learning from industry professionals, with more than 60 students working as cast and crew members.

The film is the result of a one-of-its-kind collaboration between co-producers Shenandoah University and Capital Arts Entertainment, founded by Mike Elliott, Rob Kerchner and Joe Genier, all of whom are veterans of Roger Corman’s Concorde-New Horizons production and distribution company. Another Corman vet, Shenandoah co-producer, adjunct assistant professor and lecturer Paul DiFranco, worked with Elliott to establish this unique partnership, which provides students with unmatched hands-on experience in creating commercial films. Capital Arts has produced a variety of successful films and television shows, and is a substantial distributor of independent films. “Santa Girl” is intended to be the first of many joint efforts between the university and Capital Arts.
