DiFranco to Supervise Music for New Movie Produced by Spike Lee

Conservatory Faculty News

Distinguished Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Production & Recording Technology Paul DiFranco was hired by Universal Studios to music supervise “Tales from the Hood 2,” a movie produced by Spike Lee. The movie is a sequel to the cult classic, “Tales From The Hood,” from 1995. As part of the work, he is clearing rights to one of the most interesting, controversial and tragic songs ever written, “Strange Fruit,” which laments the true horrors of lynchings in the deep south in the 1930s and 1940s. The production is using the original Nina Simone master recording.
