Cenira Schreiber (C ’95, C ’06) participated as a piano soloist in the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra’s “Winter of the Arts” performance.

Lawrence Webb (AS ’97, AS ’04) has accepted a position as assistant director of undergraduate admissions at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Bryan Newman (AS ’99, AS ’04) was named Frederick County Public Schools’ 2019 Teacher of the Year. Newman has been a teacher for 17 years and is a life science teacher at Frederick County Middle School in Winchester, Virginia.

Karin Miller Orenstein (C ’01) is the director of education at Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Bronwen Mary Landless (C ’04, C ’13) has recently accepted a position as an assistant professor of music therapy at Shenandoah University.

Caren Cole DeJarnette (AS ’06) is a guidance counselor at Halifax County High School in South Boston, Virginia.

Faith Boles (C ’07) is performing in the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue at Walt Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in Orlando, Florida. Boles has been a performer with The Walt Disney Company for 15 years.

Dawn Saracino (HP ’08) was accepted into the distinguished Parkinson’s Foundation Physical Therapy Faculty Program at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. The intensive course is open to only 12 select physical therapy faculty per year, which allows educators to fully immerse themselves in the latest Parkinson’s research and care.

Curtis Partusch (C ’12) is a band and chorus teacher at Fluvanna Middle School in Fluvanna County, Virginia.

Sydney Anderson (AS ’13, EL ’13) accepted a full-time position with Shenandoah University’s athletics department as assistant athletic communications director. Anderson has served as a part-time assistant director for the past three years, as the primary statistician for the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, while also assisting with game operations for the Hornets additional 19 intercollegiate athletics programs.

Meghan Ballard (AS ’14, HP ’16) is an occupational therapist at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, Maryland.

Jeffrey Tedford (C ’14) has been elected president of the Pennsylvania-Delaware String Teachers Association. Tedford is an associate professor of music and director of orchestral activities at Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

Casey Edsall (B ’16, B ’18) received the Herbert Myers Award for academic excellence and contributions to Shenandoah University.

Calvin Wright (B ’16) is assistant store manager of Kohl’s in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Megan Doran (C ’17, C ’18) is coordinator for the office of alumni affairs at Yale School of Music in New Haven, Connecticut.

Alexandra Galati (B ’17) has accepted a position at Shenandoah University as the admissions welcome center coordinator.

Jordan McCaskill (C ’17) joined the ensemble for the Australian Company’s “Book Of Mormon” in Sydney, Australia.

After being drafted by the Washington Nationals, Colin Morse (B ’18) made six professional appearances for the Gulf Coast League Nationals. These appearances led Morse to his first promotion to the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays. 

Ten Shenandoah University tennis players, including alumni Brett Dubin (B ’18), Matthew Hwang (B ’18), Elizabeth Pardo (AS ’18, EL ’18) and Alyssa White (B ’18) have earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete honors. To be selected as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter and carry at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Jacque Hemler (AS ’18), Peyton Krevonick (B ’18) and Abby Zorrilla (AS ’18) were honored for their academic achievement by earning honor roll accolades from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Jordan Hunter (B ’18) and Jonah Meredith (B ’18) were selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court for their academic performance as members of the Shenandoah University men’s basketball team.

Nathan Tabourn (B ’18) has accepted an admissions counselor position at Shenandoah University.

On Aug. 1, Jenna Rampale (B ’18) joined Shenandoah University’s Career Services Office as a media specialist.

On July 9, Elizabeth Woodward (B ’18) joined Shenandoah University’s Office of Admissions as a transfer admissions counselor.

In Memoriam

Kris Koop-Ouellette (C ’87) of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on July 29, 2018. After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Shenandoah, Koop-Ouellette moved to New York City to pursue her dreams and performed around the world and in numerous regional theatrical productions. She also held many other positions, including copywriter for Elle and Mirabella magazines and special events coordinator for Macy’s. For nearly 12 years, Koop-Ouellette was a performer for Broadway’s “The Phantom Of The Opera,” but she left Broadway to move to Michigan with her husband, Steve. In Michigan, she worked as associate director of the institute for arts and creativity for the Wharton Center for Performing Arts. Koop-Ouellette is survived by her husband, Steve, and her sisters, Keri Ringler and Keli Koop Wiliams.
