A ‘Thank-you’ from Pharmacy Student Mearg Tareke

Mearg Tareke understands how a gift of shoes and school supplies can radically change a life.

Tareke, a third-year pharmacy student at Shenandoah University’s Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy location at the Inova Center for Personalized Health in Fairfax, received the gift of both, from sixth grade forward, as a student in Ethiopia. She initially received the gifts for ranking first in her class, and these gifts continued to give her an incentive to do well, as the shoes and school supplies appeared every semester that she ranked first in her class. Tareke started her own organization, Walk With Me, which collects donations of shoes and supplies to share with other school girls in Ethiopia.

Hello!!!

I would like to thank my amazing professors for not just only motivating me but also for making donations too. These donations will help little young girls go to school and get themost out of their education.

I would also like to say thank you to all the students who donated and were inspired by this project.

Because of you, 325 young girls will NO longer be walking barefoot to school. I am so excited to share with you all the smiles and impacts you will make in these girls’ lives.

thank you on behalf of the young girls who hope to be someone amazing one day.

Sincerely,
WalkWithMe
