Steinway D Restored at Shenandoah Conservatory

Shenandoah Conservatory celebrated the restoration of the Steinway & Sons concert grand 532610 with a private reception and performance featuring piano faculty and students. Its classic ebony satin finish was restored during the summer of 2019 by Steinway Piano Gallery of Washington, D.C., and the process was overseen by Lead Piano Technician Kate Redding, M.A. The piano was made in Queens, New York, in 1994, and purchased by the conservatory from Steinway Hall on 57th Street. It is currently housed in Armstrong Concert Hall and is featured in numerous performances, masterclasses and more.

Shenandoah Conservatory extends special thanks to the following donors who helped make the restoration possible:

  • Dr. Peter G. Bullough
  • Doctors Laura Dabinett & Russell McKelway
  • Mr. & Mrs. Andrew U. Ferrari
  • Ms. Amy Fielder
  • Dr. & Mrs. James C. Laidlaw
  • Marjorie & John Lewis
  • Eleanor Pendleton Monahan
  • Dr. & Mrs. Terry L. Sinclair
  • Dr. Margaret E. Toxopeus

Shenandoah University became an All-Steinway School in 2015 after completing its $2.7 million All-Steinway campaign. Shenandoah Conservatory currently maintains a fleet of 96 pianos and is one of 16 conservatories in the world with All-Steinway status.
