Salley Presents Research Online for the Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic’s Annual Conference

Coordinator of Music Theory and Associate Professor of Music Theory Keith Salley, Ph.D., will present at the annual conference of the Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic (MTSMA). His presentation, “On Music Theory, the ‘Classical’ Guitar and Indigenous Music” discusses how music of the Spanish diaspora blends characteristics of Western art music with indigenous traditions, and is a viable inroad to diversifying repertoire in music theory curricula. MTSMA’s annual conference is typically held in March, but was cancelled in response to the global pandemic. The conference resumes online, where attendees can register for free and view presentations between July 15 and August 15. Visit www.musictheorymidatlantic.org for more information.
