International Education Week is Monday, Nov. 16, to Thursday, Nov. 19. 

Even though we aren’t traveling this year, we can still have an at-home global experience!

The the Center for International Programs is hosting an International Education Week from Monday, Nov. 16, to Thursday, Nov. 19. 

Monday, November 16th

Cultural Bites with The Center for International Program, 1 – 3pm

Feeling snacky? Come stop by the Brandt Student Center to sample international snacks from around the world!

Learn About Holiday Traditions in Nepal on Zoom! 4 – 5pm

Come chat virtually with our Nepali students about how they celebrate the holidays in their home country.

Tuesday, November 17th

Peace Corps Information Session | 12 – 1 pm

Educate our world through the Peace Corps. Education and English-teaching specialists are needed to address global education and training needs at grassroots levels. Help improve a community’s education levels, teaching methods, and language competencies, while gaining global skills for your career. Join us at this education-focused information session highlighting International Education Week to learn about Volunteer experiences, ask questions about service, and gain tips to guide you through the application process.

Virtual Study Abroad Drop-In Session with SU students | 10 – 11 am & 2 – 3 pm

Interested in studying abroad in the near future? Even though COVID has prevented us from traveling this year, it’s never too late to start planning. Come drop-in to learn more about GEL, GCP and semester abroad opportunities. Chat with SU students about their experiences and ask any lingering questions you may have!

Virtual Reality Study Abroad Experience in Rome and Florence at the VR Lab | 2 – 4 pm

We are seeing more and more innovative ways to be immersed in the world without physically going there. Our partnership with the Study Abroad Association allows all of us to virtually experience life in other countries within seconds. Come down to the VR lab basement in HLSB to check it out on VR equipment! 

Foods From Around the World | 11 am – 2 pm

Allen Dining Hall will be serving a selection of international dishes during the lunch hour. Make sure you stop by!

Panel Discussion: Showcasing Service from Shenandoah University Alumni | 6 pm

Attend this service panel event to hear stories from Shenandoah alumni Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Be inspired to start your career in international development and join the RPCV network of Shenandoah University alumni. Please note that this event will be held over a virtual platform. Be sure to register to receive the link to attend.

International Holiday Dinner with Free Masks! | 5 – 7 pm

Come by the Center for International Programs to sample unique and delicious food from all over the world. First 10 students to sign up receive a beautiful handmade cloth mask. Space is very limited, please email pwhiting@su.edu to reserve your spot.

Virtual Reality Study Abroad Experience in Rome and Florence at the VR Lab | 2 – 4 pm
