Matthew Edwards ’15 – Fall 2020 Updates

Associate Professor of Voice, Coordinator of Musical Theatre Voice and Artistic Director of the Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) Vocal Pedagogy Institute Matthew Edwards ’15, D.M.A., gave a presentation and masterclass on “How to Teach any Style” for the International Voice Teachers of Mix Virtual Conference, a 16-bar masterclass for the Southern Region of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS); presented a CCM Voice Pedagogy workshop for Puget Sound and Tahoma chapters of NATS; was a guest on the Voice Masters Livestream; and shared a talk on “How to Teach any Style” for the Vocology in Practice International Virtual Conference. He also served as a judge for the first round of the American Traditions Competition and was profiled in a new book, “Training Contemporary Commercial Singers” by Dr. Elizabeth Benson. The book is the result of an international survey that identified the world’s leading CCM pedagogies and features the resulting 26 teachers and their methods. Edwards also had a chapter on ‘Audio Technology’ published in “So You Want to Sing Cabaret” by David Sabella and Sue Matsuki.
