Learn What Inspires Public Leaders, SU Alums To Work For the Common Good

Virtual Panel Discussion to Be Held Wednesday, April 14

Join Shenandoah’s Center for Civic Engagement from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, for the virtual panel discussion “Public Service: Values to Action!

During this interactive event, public leaders will discuss how their experiences and backgrounds have influenced their values and engagement in the community and state. Panelists include Shenandoah alumni across the political spectrum:

  • Wendy Gooditis ’12 | Delegate for Virginia’s 10th district in the Virginia House of Delegates
  • Chris Collins ’92 ’00 | District judge on the Virginia 26th Judicial District Court
  • Charles Harbaugh IV ’09, ’11 | Mayor of Middletown
  • Tinesha Allen ’21 | Stafford County Board of Supervisors member

The group will engage in a moderated conversation and will leave time for an audience Q&A. Participate in this event to better understand how to advocate for issues that impact you and your community the most.

Often we tend to think about democratic participation as voting, but there is so much more to being civically engaged. Through this event, we will have a dialogue with an array of public servants who are graduates of SU about who and what inspired their desire to work for the common good. In a time of extreme political polarization, it is crucial to have conversations across differences and to explore and understand the motivations and values that guide us.”

Keith Jones Pomeroy, M.A. | Director of the Center for Civic Engagement

The event is free and open to the public. Register at www.su.edu/publicservice. For more information, contact serve@su.edu.
