Prayer Vigil Being Held Throughout Today At Goodson Chapel In Remembrance Of Former Shenandoah DPS Sergeant J.J. Jefferson

In light of the campus shooting incident at Bridgewater College yesterday, resulting in the death of two officers — including Vashon “J.J.” Jefferson, former DPS officer at Shenandoah — the Prayer Chapel off the lobby of Goodson Chapel-Recital Hall is open today.

J.J. was a deeply loved and valued member of our community. You are invited to reflect, pray, meditate, or simply be still … and candles are available to light.

If you are feeling a sense of uncertainty or grief today, you are not alone. The Office of Spiritual Life staff will be present until 9 p.m. this evening. If you are in need of support, please reach out to Spiritual Life at spirituallife@su.edu or call (540) 535-3546.
