Earth Week at Shenandoah

Celebrate our planet!

Earth Day is Friday, April 22 but we’re celebrating the whole week! Check out all the events Shenandoah Outdoor Adventure and Recreation has planned for Shenandoah University from Monday, April 18 to Friday, April 22. From planting your own flowers, watching movies, to cleaning up campus – there is something for everyone to celebrate Earth Week!

Start your Green Week off right with some pancakes in the Brandt Student Center! Shenandoah Outdoor & Adventure Recreation (SOAR) will be in the Brandt Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18, serving up free pancakes and celebrating the beginning of Earth Week. It’s also the first day of our annual photo contest! The grand prize is a hammock provided by SOAR. Bring your appetite and your cameras!

Shenandoah Outdoor & Adventure Recreation will be in the Brandt Student Center hallway from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, giving out materials to plant your own flowers. SOAR is providing the pot, seeds, and soil – all you need to provide is love!

Come test your luck in Campfire Bingo with Shenandoah Outdoor & Adventure Recreation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. There will be indoor s’mores available while you play, and gift cards and water bottles for those who win!

Come catch a flick with the Shenandoah Outdoor & Adventure Recreation (SOAR) team and Spiritual Life on Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the Shenandoah Outdoor & Adventure Recreation office at South Campus Commons. Come, relax, and have some popcorn while enjoying the great outdoors indoors.

Come out to the stream cleanup to help Shenandoah Outdoor & Adventure Recreation (SOAR) clean up our own natural community. Meet the SOAR staff at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 22, at the First-Year Parking Garage to help take care of Mother Earth on Earth Day. Give some extra love to the section of the creek that flows from Aikens, under I-81, to the garage. Everything you will need to help clean will be provided, just bring appropriate clothing and a great attitude!
