Conservatory Students Participate in Valley Chorale Workshop

Four conservatory students participated in a workshop hosted by The Valley Chorale on Saturday, Nov. 5., and serve as section leaders and singing mentors within the ensemble:

  • Chris Limjuco ’24 (Master of Music in Conducting) from Hollywood, Maryland, who is also a cantor at Leeds Episcopal church and a graduate hall director;
  • Maddie Berkle ’24 (Bachelor of Music Therapy) from Glen Allen, Virginia, who is also pursuing a biology minor and vocal performance certificate, has been involved in choirs for 10 years, is a student employee in the Office of Admissions and serves as a resident assistant;
  • Nick Berent ’23 (Doctor of Musical Arts in Pedagogy – Voice) from Middlesex, Pennsylvania, and besides his graduate studies, is involved in Conservatory Choir, the a cappella ensemble Harmonizing Hornets, Phi Mu Alpha and the Sound Ultimate frisbee team; and
  • Valley Chorale Artistic Director and Conductor Drew A. Young ’23 (Master of Music in Conducting)

The Valley Chorale, long established in the northern Shenandoah Valley, is delighted to be working with Shenandoah Conservatory students, benefiting from their skills, ability to work within a small group and serve as vocal mentors and role models to the 24-person ensemble.
