Stanley’ 22 Launches Local Professional Dance Company

Eve Stanley ’22 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, Minor in Entrepreneurship) has had the pleasure of working at Italia Performing Arts this past year as well as working on the board of directors for Shenandoah Arts Council. Working in correlation with Italia Performing Arts Institute (a 501c3 nonprofit), Stanley launched her professional contemporary dance company, ARTEINMOVIMENTO. The first season of artists began rehearsals in June 2023 and dancers include Stanley, Becca Hopkins ’23 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance) and Lainey Griffin ’23, ’25 (Bachelor of Arts in Dance, Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Master of Science in Athletic Training).

The company’s first project, “Walking Artwork,” will premiere at ShenArts Fest at Taylor Pavilion in Winchester, Virginia, on Saturday, Sept. 9, and will continue its local tour at the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse on Sunday, Oct. 29, Court Square Theater in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in late February or early March, and more venues to come. ARTEINMOVIMENTO dance company has collaborated with local talent including visual artists from Shenandoah Arts Council and musicians from Shenandoah Conservatory (Michel Fantom ’24 (Bachelor of Music in Music Production & Recording Technology) and Matthew Neal ’24 (Bachelor of Music in Music Production & Recording Technology). The company will launch its first weeklong high school workshop in January 2024 in Hagerstown, Maryland. Stay tuned for ARTEINMOVIMENTO’s annual project, “Radium,” a Halloween special premiering in October 2024.
