Opera Directed by Marchment Nominated for International Opera Award

The opera production of “Le Roi de Lahore” (The King of Lahore) directed by Director of Opera and Associate Professor Ella Marchment, B.Mus., and presented at the Dorset Opera Festival in the United Kingdom earlier this summer was nominated for an International Opera Award for Best Rediscovered Work. Marchment was joined by Dasia-Marie Mitchell ’24 (Bachelor of Music in Performance) who served alongside Marchment as assistant director.

Winners of the 2023 International Opera Awards will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Teatr Wielki, Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Poland. Marchment previously directed the International Opera Awards ceremonies from 2017 through 2022.
