Serrano-Coyer ’04, ’06, ’08, ’10 and Chen ’99, ’01, ’02 Release Album Highlighting Venezuelan Composers

Violinist Dr. Marjory Serrano-Coyer ’04, ’06, ’08, ’10 (Bachelor of Music in Performance, Master of Music in Performance, Artist Diploma – Quartet Studies, Artist Diploma – Violin) and pianist Dr. Hsin-Yi Chen ’99, ’01, ’02 (Bachelor of Music in Performance, Master of Music in Performance, Master of Music in Piano Accompanying), recently released their new album, “Sonatas Venezolanas.” The album features compositions by two Venezuelan composers, Angel Sauce and Nelly Mele Lara, who, despite being relatively unknown outside of Venezuela, played crucial roles in the development of classical music education in Latin America, especially within Venezuela. The collaborative project also featured several other Shenandoah Conservatory alumni at Sono Luminus, including producer Dan Merceruio ’06 (Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Commercial Music) who served as the producer; Joshua Frey ’19, ’20 (Bachelor of Music in Music Production & Recording Technology, Master of Science in Performing Arts Leadership & Management) who served as a recording assistant and graphic designer; and Adjunct Associate Professor of Music Production & Recording Technology Dan Shores ’99, B.M., who served as the mixing engineer.
