SU’s Institute for Business, Sustainability & Society Launches Rainforest Products Etsy Store

Cofan Rainforest Etsy Store-Dec 2023
Student volunteers showcase Cofan Rainforest Products

The Cofan Rainforest Products Etsy Store is officially live, and Shenandoah University students can’t wait to share the items in this store, which are sustainably made from materials gathered in the rainforest by the Cofan Women’s Association, a small group of enterprising artisans who have embraced their Amazon handicraft traditions. From intricate handmade crafts to eco-friendly accessories, there’s something for everyone!

This is a student-run project under the auspices of the Institute for Business, Sustainability & Society at Shenandoah University. It provides invaluable hands-on learning opportunities for our students to put ‘stakeholder capitalism’ principles into practice.”

SU faculty, staff & students can enjoy free shipping on SU’s main campus by entering the code FREESHIPOMC at checkout. Bulk Mail will distribute packages to faculty and staff. Student packages will be held at the Brandt Student Center for pickup. Note: Bulk Mail will be closed from Dec. 21-Jan. 2.

This holiday season, you can embark on a journey of mindful and ethical shopping. Your support not only brings a piece of the rainforest to your doorstep but also contributes to preserving this unique ecosystem and its ancestral inhabitants.

We’re committed to sustainability, fair trade practices, and the positive impact your purchase can have on the indigenous Cofan community. With our help, they can make a living making sustainable handicrafts, rather than growing coffee, which has been not only ecologically destructive but also unprofitable. Your purchase plants a tree on deforested land, helping restore what has been lost. What’s more, all profits go to charity.”
