Dance Students and Faculty Take on ACDA Mid-Atlantic South Conference

Earlier this semester, Shenandoah Conservatory’s dance program attended the American College Dance Association (ACDA) Mid-Atlantic South Conference at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Assistant Professor of Modern Dance Daniel Padierna, M.F.A., and Auxiliary Adjunct Assistant Professor of Dance – Technical Production Miriah D. Borden, M.F.A., oversaw 33 Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts dance majors on this five-day trip where students participated in several dance classes, lectures and presentations by various university educators and professional dance artists. Shenandoah students presented work in several concerts: Alexa Boyles ’24 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance) presented her work, “i swallow your heart and you make me spit it up again,” in the informal concert; Ruthann Ciszak ’25 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance) presented her work, “Perception,” in the adjudicated concert; and Padierna presented his work, “Take Care,” in the adjudicated concert as well.
