Ilyes ’24 Appointed Visiting Assistant Professor of Violin at Longwood University

Emily Ilyes ’24 (Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance) was appointed visiting assistant professor of violin at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. She will teach applied violin and viola, directing the chamber orchestra and teaching music history classes.

“This position is nothing short of a dream come true for me and I can’t wait to start this new chapter in the fall,” said Ilyes.

Ilyes studied with Victor Brown Endowed Chair in Violin and Professor of Violin Akemi Takayama, D.M.A., during her time as a student at Shenandoah Conservatory.

“I’m beyond thrilled for Emily Ilyes as she steps into this exciting new chapter of her life,” said Dr. Takayama.
