Shenandoah University Announces 2025 SURE Winners

18 students were recognized for their outstanding research in 10 award categories

Eighteen Shenandoah University students were among the winners of the 2025 Shenandoah University Research Expo (SURE), which took place on April 29-30 in Hazel-Pruitt Armory on SU’s main campus. With 72 submissions, representing both graduate and undergraduate programs, and everything from creative projects to empirical research, the students’ hard work was on full display.

  • Outstanding Undergraduate Lightning Talk, Non-Empirical, Individual: Taylor Vanaman, theatre design and production (costume design emphasis) and Spanish
  • Outstanding Undergraduate Lightning Talk, Empirical, Individual: Taylor Reynolds, public health
  • Outstanding Undergraduate Lightning Talk, Non-Empirical, Group: Ann Fink, Tyler Dossat and Ryan Casey; virtual reality design
  • Outstanding Undergraduate Lightning Talk, Empirical, Group: Samantha Shy and Seamus Patenaude, exercise science 
  • Outstanding Graduate Lightning Talk: Michaela Oberholzer, physical therapy and athletic training
  • Outstanding Undergraduate Poster, Individual (tie): Faria Zafar, computer science, and Katelynn Clukey, psychology
  • Outstanding Undergraduate Poster, Group: Juliana Bish and Olivia Shores, environmental studies
  • Outstanding Graduate Poster, Individual: Elizabeth Neiman, pharmacy
  • Outstanding Graduate Poster, Group: Jennie Dunnavant, Madison Biggs, Rachel Taylor and Yvette Tebo; occupational therapy
  • Outstanding Remote Lightning Talk, Graduate: Madeleine Baum, performing arts leadership & management

The Shenandoah University Research Expo is an annual event featuring students’ research and creative projects. SURE is an opportunity for students to present their work to the SU community in a supportive, professional setting. To learn more, visit su.edu/sure.
