Sweitzer ’94, ’11 Awarded SU’s President’s Medal

Tom Sweitzer ’94, ’11 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre – Voice, Graduate Certificate in Music Therapy), M.M.T., MT-BC, received the university’s prestigious President’s Medal during a celebration of the 15th anniversary of A Place to Be on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Shenandoah President Tracy Fitzsimmons, Ph.D., surprised Sweitzer with the medal during the celebration, which took place at Stonehall Farm in The Plains, Virginia, owned by Jacqueline Mars. In 2010, Sweitzer co-founded A Place to Be, which helps people navigate and overcome life’s challenges through music therapy, performance and the expressive arts.
