Roberts Performs and Teaches in China, Including World Saxophone Congress in Harbin

Chair of Instrumental Division, Coordinator for Conservatory in the Community and Professor of Saxophone Timothy Roberts, D.M.A., traveled to China for a series of performances and masterclasses in August. At the World Saxophone Congress in Harbin, he was one of five saxophonists selected from around the world to perform a concerto with the wind section of the Harbin Symphony Orchestra. He chose John Mackey’s Concerto for Soprano Saxophone and Wind Ensemble for that performance. He was also invited to teach a masterclass for Chinese and Japanese university students, and to perform a recital with an international saxophone trio at the congress.

After the congress in Harbin, Roberts was invited to Yantai, China, at the request of Shengbo Lin ’20 (Master of Music in Performance – Saxophone) to be the guest artist at the Laizhou Opera House Saxophone Gala, where he performed solo works and taught additional masterclasses.
