Celebrating Alumni Achievement: Yesenia Nunez ’22, ’25 Appointed to Virginia Board of Nursing

Congratulations to Yesenia Nunez ’22 ’25 on her recent appointment by Governor Abigail D. Spanberger to serve as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) representative on the Virginia Board of Nursing. This distinguished role reflects her professional excellence and her commitment to advancing nursing practice across Virginia.

Nunez currently serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Valley Health’s Transitions Clinic, where she provides short‑term continuing care for patients who are discharged from the hospital or emergency department and do not yet have a primary care provider. In this role, she ensures patients receive consistent, high‑quality support until they are fully established with a primary care team.

Her appointment highlights both her clinical expertise and her dedication to improving access, continuity, and quality of care for vulnerable populations. Nunez’s leadership and service continue to make a meaningful impact in her community and across the state.

Nunez earned a graduate certificate in healthcare management in 2022, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 2025, and a Master of Business Administration in 2025.
