Davin and Yin ’25 Showcase Performance and Scholarship at GFA International Convention

Director of Guitar Studio and Associate Professor of Guitar Colin Davin, M.M., and recent conservatory graduate Hang Yin ’25 (Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance) were both featured at the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) International Convention, held June 22-27, at Metropolitan State University of Denver in Colorado. The annual convention is one of the world’s foremost gatherings for classical guitar performance, scholarship and education.

Davin was among seven artists from around the world invited to perform a solo concert at the convention. He also presented a masterclass and technique workshop, and served on the jury of the GFA International Concert Artist Competition.

Yin presented a lecture built from his doctoral research at Shenandoah, “Exploring Chinese Musical Elements in Guitar Works by Chen Yi and Tan Dun,” as part of the Symposium for Guitar Scholars after being accepted through a competitive double-blind review process.
