Pearman ’95, ’97 Returns to Drum Corps as Winds Staff Member with Carolina Gold

Darrell Pearman ’95, ’97 (Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Master of Music in Conducting) is serving as a winds technician with the Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps this season.

Pearman has served as director of bands at Blacksburg High School since 2007, where his ensembles have earned statewide and national recognition, including performances at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival, the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference and Carnegie Hall. A two-time Shenandoah graduate, he also served as a graduate assistant conductor for the conservatory’s Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and brass ensemble.

Pearman’s appointment with Carolina Gold also marks a return to the drum corps activity that helped shape his own musical career. In 1993, he marched with the Division II World Champion Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, and he brings decades of performance and educational experience to his current role mentoring the next generation of performers.
