Co-enrolled students pay community college tuition for up to three Shenandoah courses, and can participate in Shenandoah University student organizations, Shenandoah University Marching Band, and campus events. SU/LRCC co-enrolled students also receive Shenandoah ID cards and email addresses.
“I’m really looking forward to the chance to learn from new professors and hear their different perspectives and experiences. I’m also excited about meeting new people at SU and becoming more involved as a Hornet,” said Mason Stump, an LRCC co-enrolled student who plans to study business administration with a concentration in management at Shenandoah.
What appealed to me most about the co-enrollment program was the opportunity to start making connections with people at Shenandoah University before officially transferring. I also liked that I could get a head start on learning my way around campus and becoming familiar with the university, which I think will make the transition to SU that much easier.”

Co-enrolled students must have completed at least 15 credits in general education toward a Laurel Ridge associate degree, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and with the intention of finishing the associate degree before transferring to Shenandoah. They must also maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in LRCC and Shenandoah classes while co-enrolled.
“I am looking forward to strengthening my academic skills, building meaningful connections with classmates and faculty, and gaining experiences that will prepare me for success as I continue my education,” said Sara Hernandez, a co-enrolled student who hopes to transfer to Shenandoah University in Fall 2027 as an elementary education major.

She said she chose the major because she wants to make a positive difference in young children’s lives. “I enjoy helping others learn and grow, and I hope to create a classroom where every student feels supported, encouraged, and excited to learn. I am excited to gain the knowledge, teaching experience, and classroom skills that will prepare me for a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher.”
Applications for Spring 2027 co-enrollment are open through Jan. 5, 2027. LRCC students interested in co-enrollment must discuss the option with their Laurel Ridge adviser.
