The (PSC) for Reading Licensure serves teachers who already hold a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and who want to obtain Virginia licensure as a reading specialist without seeking Shenandoah University’s Master of Science in Literacy Education: Reading Concentration degree.
Shenandoah’s Professional Studies Certificate for Licensure in Administration and Supervision is designed for individuals who hold a master’s degree from an accredited university and who want to obtain Virginia licensure in School Administration and Supervision without seeking Shenandoah’s MSED in Educational Administration degree.
PSC Special Education
The Professional Studies Certificate in Special Education (K-12, K-6, 6-8, 6-12) Add-on Endorsements serve licensed teachers who desire to add Virginia Special Education Endorsement at their licensure level.
The Professional Studies Certificate in Gifted Education prepares teachers to implement best practices in gifted and talented instruction through collaboration, reflection, critical thinking, coaching, data analysis and authentic assessments.

The MSED Individual Focus Degree Program is well suited to students with highly individualized career or educational goals that are interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, international, general or specific.
The Master of Science in Special Education program, prepares pre-service students, alternatively licensed or already certified teachers to work with students with disabilities who access the general curriculum in grades K-12. Special education teachers are in demand, with teacher shortages reported nationwide. Our Master of Science program leads to licensure in Special Education-General Curriculum, K-12 endorsement in Virginia.
