Learning Support Services

The goal of Shenandoah University’s Learning Support Services is to foster student learning, persistence, and retention by helping students process, organize, and recall their classroom instruction. This should help not only in college, but also once students graduate and enter the working world.

Services Offered

Support is provided by a trio of resources – the Writing Center, the Math Enrichment Center, and the Tutoring Center

Tutoring Center Team

The Tutoring Center is part of the Academic Center for Excellence. The team primarily consists of student tutors. The benefit of having peer tutors is that they have already successfully completed the class and will understand the content because they have quite literally been there, done that! They may also be able to use language to help you better comprehend the material and relate to it!

My previous tutor helped me practice sight-singing and analysis skills and gave me the confidence to work hard and pass the course. Because of that, I went from hating music theory to loving it!”

I went to tutoring because I knew I was missing some important points in class that could be explained to me by a peer. My tutor and I really connected and it became fun going to tutoring. The way she explained pharmacology to me was really helpful and I knew that I could do the same for other students in that class.”

We offer individual, group or drop in tutoring sessions to all students.
