Byrd School of Business student Mohammad Khashogji ’17 has been selected for a spring 2017 internship at the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations in Washington, D.C., which began Jan. 30.
The mission of the The National Council’s mission is to educate Americans about the Arab, Middle East, and Islamic worlds through leadership development, people-to-people programs, lectures and academic briefings.
This internship is important to Khashogji because it is the first step to developing his dream of working for the embassy of Saudi Arabia in the future. His duties will include supporting the Model Arab League (MAL) Program by assisting with recruitment; event planning; arranging embassy meetings for MAL delegations; staffing local conferences and training student leaders in parliamentary procedure.
A highlight of this internship is the opportunity to get exposure to the logistics of policy making which is an interest of Khashogji. He will support of the Annual Arab-U.S. Policymakers Conference by providing National Council staff with logistical support; assisting with schedule confirmation; registering participants and facilitating conference proceedings.
Currently Khashogji is the president of the Saudi Students Association at Shenandoah University and on his second consecutive semester on the Dean’s List. Originally he enrolled as a biology major, but he said he felt that his gift was truly in foreign relations.
