Shiffman Receives Leadership Honor

Achilles-Hoyle Service Award Bestowed Upon Leadership Studies Chair

Catherine Shiffman, Ph.D., professor and department chair of leadership studies at Shenandoah University’s School of Education & Leadership, received the Achilles-Hoyle Service award from the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership (ICPEL) in July 2019. “Dr. Shiffman was honored for her active service to ICPEL for significant and faithful service to the organization and to member professors of educational leaders. The award also reflects the consistent service of Charles Achilles and John Hoyle to the field of educational administration and to ICPEL,” according to the ICPEL newsletter.

“Shiffman currently serves on the Executive Board of ICPEL and recently stepped down — after eight years as ICPEL’s representative to the National Policy Board for Educational Administration  — as the Specialized Professional Association (SPA) accreditation program reviewer for national program recognition in educational leadership. She has served in editorial roles within ICPEL and continues to advocate for profession in her role as a professor and ICPEL executive board member,” the newsletter also states.
