ShenCoTRUTH: Reflections By Shenandoah Conservatory Students

Carlos Figueroa ’21

Bachelor of Music in Performance (Cello)

I am constantly practicing my instrument and discovering new ways to connect with people through music. I am also dedicated to baking and cooking a gourmet meal everyday to improve my culinary skills. After I finish my homework I call my mom to talk about our day and at the end of the night, I watch a quiet movie while I draw sketches of my favorite cartoons. This has kept me physically and psychologically healthy in the midst of these circumstances.

Working full-time, raising four teenage children alone, and being a graduate student has its challenges. Planning and organization has been the key to our success. Color coordination for each child’s schedule, personal schedules printed out, synchronous distance learning schedules living on the fridge and a lot self-reliance on the part of everyone is a must.
