Coordinator of Undergraduate Music Therapy and Assistant Professor of Music Therapy Hakeem Leonard, Ph.D., MT-BC, and Assistant Professor of Music Therapy Bronwen Landless ’04, ’13, M.M.T., MT-BC, were actively involved in multiple aspects of the first online World Congress of Music Therapy hosted by South Africa on July 8 and 9. Dr. Leonard and Landless co-presented “Combining the Rhythms of Nursing, Theatre, and Music Therapy in Training and Education Through Interprofessional Simulation Experiences,” a presentation on an innovative Interprofessional (IPE) Psychiatric Simulation Learning Experience that has evolved over the last four years in collaboration with Shenandoah nursing and theatre faculty.

Leonard participated in the panel discussion “Colonialism and Music Therapy” and was part of a Black Music Therapy Network meeting with music therapists, interns and students identifying as Black or of African descent.

Landless presented “#WorldMusicTherapyDay: Inspiring the Global Music Therapy Community” with two other WFMT council members and was reappointed to the WFMT council to serve a second, three-year term as North American Regional Liaison.
