Vickhouse ’19 Teaches, Choreographs and Adjudicates Dance in Jacksonville

Madison Vickhouse ’19 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance) recently relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where she currently teaches for Relevé Academy of Dance, creating choreography and preparing pieces for the onstage performances of its competition team. She is also traveling all across the country as a judge for StarQuest Dance Competition. Vickhouse has also performed in “Guys and Dolls” with Virginia Stage Company, worked as an extra for multiple episodes for the national television series “The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” as well as choreographed and danced in several music videos following graduation.

“I will forever be grateful for my time at Shenandoah as it has taught me lifelong lessons that have carried over to my professional journey, including the ability to adapt and modify in any and all situations,” said Vickhouse. “Being a malleable performer has provided me with more opportunities than I had even dreamt of! One of my favorite quotes that I have carried with me from my time at Shenandoah is ‘trust the process,’ which came from the incredible Shylo Martinez. I use this quote now to remind my students that even when we think we may be failing, we are still experiencing growth, and I am very thankful to my professors for cultivating this same environment for me when I was studying at Shenandoah. My advice to future Shenandoah dancers? Be a sponge, absorb everything and enjoy every second of your conservatory journey.”
